Over the past few weeks, I've picked up quite a few items of clothing. I figured I'd compile them all into one post, so click behind the cut if you're curious! :) I didn't pay full price for any of these things and managed to get good deals on pretty much everything. :D

"I really do believe that art changes the landscape of the world." -Marc Jacobs

Happy December everyone! I haven't made a blog post in quite a while as, alas, I have been swamped with schoolwork. I have quite a few posts to make so look out for those soon! Today I wanted to share and review a few items I've purchased/received as gifts from Marc by Marc Jacobs. Meet Katie the bunny, Pickles the puppy, and Shorty the dog!

"Clothes and jewellery should be startling, individual." -Alexander McQueen

I am a major sucker for McQueen costume jewelry, so for me, this burgundy and gold bracelet was too perfect to pass up. You can purchase this bracelet from the following places:

Sporadic Snapshots: Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope your Halloween was fun, safe, and full of delicious candy and delightful costumes! To all those affected by Hurricane Sandy, you are in my thoughts and I hope you, your friends, and your families are safe. Many people had their entire homes and businesses destroyed, while others experienced flooding, power outages, and damage to personal property. We luckily only lost power for a few hours. If you live in New York, there are plenty of opportunities for volunteering and helping out, or you can just donate clothes, food, or money to numerous Hurricane Sandy relief charities.
This post is going to be a collection of recent photos, mostly instagrammed, that I have yet to post on Blogger. :)

"I am a fashion person, and fashion is not only about clothes - it's about all kinds of change." -Karl Lagerfeld

Yves Saint Laurent is unfortunately going to be discontinuing one of my favorites - the Arty ring. I took advantage of Saks's Friends & Family sale to order my fourth and final Arty. I'm sorely disappointed that they won't be making them anymore! :(

"I hate leisure, except reading. I'm really a person made to work, if sketching is considered work." -Karl Lagerfeld

As I put together this post, I can't help but steal glances at my new Acne boots. They are propped up in front of me atop their box, untouched and unworn, waiting to be taken around the streets of New York. They've yet to click-clack down the gritty cement sidewalks; they've yet to wobble around the cobblestone roads of SoHo. I can't wait to break in the supple leather and make these my own.

Currently Coveting: My Fall Shopping List

My fall/winter shopping list has been in the works for quite some time. I mostly want to purchase accessories, bags, and shoes. Go behind the cut to see my wishlist! :)

"You have to experiment and try many different ways of wearing a scarf before you find the way that suits you best." -Christian Dior

Scarves are fantastic accessories. They can transform an entire look. My favorite brands for scarves are Burberry, Missoni, and Alexander McQueen. These can be quite expensive, however, so it's always good to find them for less! Only one of my Burberry scarves was purchased for full price. The rest I found at thrift stores! I recently found two new Burberry scarves while thrifting, which you will see in this post, along with a Missoni scarf I bought quite some time ago but never posted. I also got a super cute Juicy cardigan I want to share with you. :)

"I think you can have it all. You just have to know it's going to work." -Tory Burch

Lately, I've been obsessed with boots. I looked through tons of boots and booties online after I purchased my Rag & Bone Wessex boots, and I decided on my fall/winter boot shopping list. I will share those with you later in a long overdue Currently Coveting post. ;) I've had Tory Burch riding boots on my wish list for quite some time, and I finally bought them during the Labor Day sale.

"I always loved aesthetics. Not particularly fashion, but an idea of beauty." -Miuccia Prada

Autumn is just on the horizon, and I couldn't be more excited! Leather jackets, scarves, boots, gloves, cardigans, sweaters, wool coats, earmuffs, hats....fall fashion has always been my favorite. There are a few autumn necessities that I need to stock up on - namely, a couple of new coats/jackets, new boots, and fingerless leather gloves. These Rag & Bone Wessex Lace Up boots (available at the Outnet or from Shopbop) are the perfect shoes to get me through colder days.

Sporadic Snapshots: Food, New York, and Fashion

When I'm on the go, I snap a lot of photos with my iPhone. It's probably a major nuisance to everyone I am with, but I enjoy taking photos and I am not at all picky about what I photograph. (This is a nice way to say I take photos of absolutely everything and everyone probably hates me for it. ;P) Here are some shots from the past couple of weeks! :) If you like them, you may also enjoy my instagram, which I shall shamelessly plug yet again - my username is MissYanaCherie. If I decide to make these posts a common occurrence, I feel I ought to name them. For now, they have been deemed "Sporadic Snapshots." Thank you for reading! :)

“In the end, it’s important for us to learn to value ourselves enough to stand up for what we know is right and for what we want, otherwise we will never get it.” -Miranda Kerr

Nothing says spring and summer quite like a flowy, easy dress. I first saw this dress at the Juicy Couture flagship on Fifth Avenue and I fell in love with it. It was available in three colors - purple (available here or here), purple with dots, and a periwinkle blue, which is the color I fell in love with. However, the dress was quite pricey -  almost $300. So I waited for it to go on sale, and it finally did! Juicy Couture is having a 30% additional percent off sale right now, so I suggest you check it out! :) I wound up purchasing three things.

"I think 'modesty' is a beautiful word today - and a beautiful attitude." -Alber Elbaz

Blue boxes never fail to elicit squeals of delight. This particular kind of blue box is my first venture into the wonderful world of Lanvin shoes. These espadrille sandals were a gift from my mommy, so thank you mom! :) I really appreciate these gorgeous sandals.

“Create your own style… let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.” -Anna Wintour

Here are a few [non-thrifted] things I have picked up in the past couple of months from Elizabeth & James, Tibi, Juicy Couture, Betsey Johnson, Free People, Alice + Olivia, Wolford, Coach, and Vince...:)

PROJECT ARM CANDY: Acquisition Three!

Of all the arm candy I hoped to acquire, there was one bracelet in particular that I coveted above all the others - the McQueen twin skull bracelet. It was sold out in gold everywhere I looked, and I thought I was going to have to order it from overseas. Then, I realized I could just call the Alexander McQueen store in NYC and ask if they had it in stock...LOL. They did, and so I trudged on over there with my lovely best friend Audrey (follow her on tumblr!) and I was so happy to find the bracelet I'd been loving for months! I took this photo a couple of minutes after leaving the Alexander McQueen boutique in the Meatpacking District. I also secretly snapped a couple of photos in the store....everything was so beautiful. Alexander McQueen is amazing. :')

PROJECT ARM CANDY: Acquisition Two

About a month ago, I made a post featuring my first Alexander McQueen bangle. In the post,  I mentioned that I wanted to buy a few bracelets and stack them. I finally got my second McQueen bangle, and I'm excited to share it with you! :) I purchased my bracelet from Zappos, but you can also find them at Bergdorf Goodman, Ssense, Saks, and Net-A-Porter.

Thrifting: Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo, Prada, Lanvin, Tory Burch, Burberry, Coach, Tibi, and more!

I have been meaning to put together this post for months now. I've been thrifting a lot less lately, just because I feel like I have too much stuff and I'd rather invest in something/save up. I just ran around my room finding stuff I thrifted but didn't photograph just because I was too lazy to, and I kind of slapped this together. The photos are far from perfect, so I apologize in advance! I am debating selling a few of these things, too. I don't remember the precise prices because I bought this stuff a while ago, but I will do my best to be as accurate as possible.

"If the pressure is too big, do something else." -Karl Lagerfeld

I apologize profusely for the lack of blog posts lately - I just finished my spring semester, so hopefully I will be able to post a lot more! I was also having trouble uploading photos to my MacBook because I couldn't find the USB cable for my camera, but I finally found it today! :) This post is going to be about a few makeup/beauty/hair care items I purchased recently.

PROJECT ARM CANDY: Acquisition One

I'm assembling an army...an army of arm candy. The first weapon in my arsenal is this Alexander McQueen enamel skull bangle. Tough but feminine, this delicate bangle is the perfect first recruit for my Arm Candy project.

Joie de vivre...

Joie (Check out their site!) has recently become one of my absolute favorite brands. Their blouses are so chic, easy, and feminine. The brand is a happy marriage between casual and sophisticated.  Recently, I've gotten four new blouses by Joie and I am excited to share them with you! :)

"The most beautiful makeup of a woman is passion. But cosmetics are easier to buy." -Yves Saint Laurent

I never really cared much for makeup, but recently my fascination with it has swelled significantly. Last autumn, I branched out and began buying nail polishes. Since then, I've accumulated a plethora of colors and started experimenting with different designs on my nails. It's fun to think of yourself as a canvas that you can color and adorn. Currently, I am enamored with fun, bright lipsticks. I never really wore lipstick (apart from the occasional red lip) and I found lip gloss to be naught but annoyingly sticky. However, thanks to my friend Anna (Follow her on Tumblr!), who is on a recent lipstick frenzy of her own, I developed a slight obsession with lipsticks. I purchased two new shades. I also got a new nail polish (naturally) and a perfume I've been coveting for a while (at a good price!).

“In a Balenciaga you were the only woman in the room - no other woman existed.” -Diana Vreeland

I've always thought the Balenciaga City was a classic, must-have bag. Part of the fun of Balenciaga is that they make bags in really fun colors. I've been waiting for them to come out with the perfect red and gold combination, and the Hamilton leather Bordeaux colored City with the new giant hardware was perfect. The hamilton leather seems more durable than the usual, sort of slouchy Balenciaga leather. I love the contrast that the gold hardware brings, and I also love that it's not so big and heavy as the regular hardware. All in all, this bag was honestly the perfect Bal for me! This post is pretty photo-heavy, so I apologize in advance! :P

"I'm constantly looking for perfection." -Yves Saint Laurent

YSL, YSL, oh YSL, why have you come out with such mesmerizing Arty Oval rings? I just made a post about my new blue and gunmetal Arty ring, and here I am making a post about my new mint colored one. I first spotted this ring on the Saks website, but it was sold out. I searched for it everywhere, checking the YSL website, Saks, MyTheresa, and other sites every day. Finally, the day before the price increase, I found it at Ssense. It was $250 and I got it without sales tax (since it was from Canada) and with free shipping. I was so excited! It shipped very quickly and I am super pleased with it.

"Luxury is the income tax of vanity. But it is so pleasant." -Karl Lagerfeld

I've loved YSL Arty rings for a while now. I got my first one back in October. It is one of my absolute favorite pieces and I wear it all the time. Unfortunately, it doesn't match too well with silver jewelry. When I first saw this blue and silver ring, I fell in love. It is truly the most stunning Arty ring I have ever seen. The stone is hypnotic; I love how it stands out! I had a hard time getting my hands on this baby, as it was only available in Europe. It was worth it! I got my ring from a boutique called Smets through Farfetch.com. I'm so happy with my ring! :D

"I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it." — Alexander McQueen

Lee Alexander McQueen was so incredibly talented. His designs were always edgy, intricate, and beautiful. I feel that recently my style has dipped into a more edgy territory, and I've been trying to acquire things that are more interesting. I recently got the Alexander McQueen skull scarf and I love it! Surprisingly, I didn't have any lightweight black scarves. The scarf I got is black with gray skulls, so the skulls are more-or-less subtle, but noticeable enough. I'm so pleased with this scarf - it goes with almost anything!

“Happy, happy fashion - there is not much more to it than that." -Marc Jacobs

There's no article of clothing I find more exquisite than an easy, chic silk blouse. This particular one joined the ranks of my closet just yesterday, and I am so excited to wear it. There's not a detail about it that I don't adore!

Currently Coveting: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Marc by Marc Jacobs makes up a pretty gargantuan part of my wardrobe. I really enjoy the carefree, whimsical aesthetic of the diffusion line. The pieces are always great quality - I don't have anything from MbMJ that I've been disappointed with. I am tremendously in love with some of these new Marc by Marc Jacobs pieces!

"I can have remorse, but no regrets." -Karl Lagerfeld

Tom Ford is a genius. He revived Gucci as its creative director and was incredibly successful as YSL's creative director, as well. His own line is impeccable. I have never owned anything by him, but I finally do! I'd like to introduce you to my Tom Ford Nico sunglasses! Nicos, meet my blogger friends. Blogger friends, meet my Nicos! :)

"Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." -Rachel Zoe

If you've been following me for a while, you are probably acutely aware of my love for Amy Smilovic and her line Tibi. I own a few pieces from Tibi - two cardigans, two skirts, a blouse, and now a dress! :) I love the brand's aesthetic and the pieces are always of great quality. I am so excited to share the dress I purchased with you!

Currently Coveting: Makeup, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen

These are some things I am loving right now. Usually my style is very feminine and delicate, but lately I've been loving edgier stuff, so this post will feature more of that. :) I am also loving a few makeup products!

"Let's face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people; it does for me." -Audrey Hepburn

Chic, easy blouses are a staple in my wardrobe. They look great with jeans and flats when you just want to throw something on in the morning and still look put-together, and they are perfect for tucking into skirts or shorts. Most importantly, flowy blouses are just really comfortable and usually very flattering!

"I've been lucky. Opportunities don't often come along. So, when they do, you have to grab them." -Audrey Hepburn

Happy March everyone! How have you all been? :)
I got a few new makeup items recently, and I shall be doing an everyday makeup post soon. :) I also thrifted a few things, but I've been trying to cut down on shopping and focus on saving for things I want - namely, Tom Ford Nicos, a Marc by Marc Jacobs watch, and a Miu Miu bracelet. ;D

“I have always believed that fashion was not only to make women more beautiful, but also to reassure them, give them confidence." -Yves Saint Laurent

I've been ridiculously lucky with thrifting recently. I stopped by a random Salvation Army store just on a whim, since I enjoy exploring thrift stores to see what quirky things they have, and I found two awesome things! This Gucci bag was only $4, and it's authentic! I also found a cute little black dress from Theory for $6. :)

"My shoes are special shoes for discerning feet." -Manolo Blahnik

I had quite a bit of luck shopping these past few days. I purchased my second quilted Burberry jacket for only $35, a new little vintage Dooney & Bourke bag for $20 and a silk Fendi scarf for $22. I also want to share the gorgeous gifts my boyfriend got me for Valentine's day....a pair of Kate Spade earrings and my first pair of Manolo Blahniks, a pair of quilted ballerinas that I had wanted for quite some time, worth $675, mine for only $50!!

“Ready-to-wear is what I've wanted to do since the beginning...I'm not a girl who spends my life in a ballgown." -Vera Wang

Happy Valentine's day everyone! I'm about to go out and get sushi with my boyfriend but first I am making a blog post. I'd like to wish you all a very happy Valentine's day. Even if you don't have a significant other, you are loved by many people! Including me =D <3

"From the time we're born until we die, we're kept busy with artificial stuff that isn't important." -Tom Ford

I am beyond in love with my new phone. I got the iPhone 4S recently, and it's great. :)

Currently Coveting: Bird by Juicy Couture, Theory, Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld, Burberry

I'm making the introduction to this Currently Coveting post a photo I posted on Instagram today of me and my boyfriend haha. Today I went to the gym and did a little bit of shopping, but I showed great restraint and didn't buy myself anything! I snapped a couple of photos of things I want, though =P

"The world is not there to please you. It's up to you to please the world." -Karl Lagerfeld

Happy Tuesday everyone! I've been busy with school lately, but today I have some time to myself so I figured I'd go to the gym, make a blog post, and spend some time with my boyfriend haha. I recently got two new Chanel nail polishes - Jade Rose (my first neutral!) and April.

"Here's my advice. Have a little faith, and if that doesn't work, have a lot of mimosas." -Blair Waldorf

This week I got two sweaters, and my order from Hautelook arrived. :)

"I always believed that style was more important than fashion. They are rare, those who imposed their style while fashion makers are so numerous." -Yves Saint Laurent

I am so excited about this post! I had a truly wonderful day today and on top of that, I found some amazing stuff. I apologize for the not exactly superb photographs, but I recently started school so I'm not able to be home at the best times for good lighting. All of the items in this post were thrifted from different places (on different days haha), and I love everything I got.

"The most important thing is to enjoy your life - to be happy - it's all that matters." -Audrey Hepburn

Guess what I finally got? I've been coveting these for so long and I finally saved up enough for them! I got the Prada Baroque sunglasses in black =)

Thursday, January 26, 2012

“It’s that wonderful old-fashioned idea that others come first and you come second. This was the whole ethic by which I was brought up. Others matter more than you do, so ‘don’t fuss, dear; get on with it.’” -Audrey Hepburn

I'm about to go out for Thai food with my boyfriend, but I figured I'd make a quick blog post before I left. :) Yesterday I went for a long walk with my mom; we had to return a jacket we bought for my dad that he didn't like. I wound up buying a new nail polish and a couple of things from VS for the gym.

What's in my bag?

I had a few people on Tumblr request that I do a post on here featuring the stuff in my bag, so here goes...lol

"If I read too much or know too much it's not because I want to talk about it, it's only because it's interesting for me." -Karl Lagerfeld

Whenever I get a new....well, anything, I try to think of interesting ways to wear it. The Valentino bow clutch I recently purchased is a bit of a challenge, mostly because it's blue, while my new/old (haha) vintage bags are much easier to match.

"Design is a constant challenge to balance comfort with luxe, the practical with the desirable." -Donna Karan

Since it snowed, New York has become a dangerous place to be a pedestrian. Murky slush threatens to ruin your favorite Prada shoes with every step you take. Regardless of how painstakingly you tip toe through the treacherous terrain, some areas have a thin blanket of ice left there by lazy or otherwise incapable homeowners. Thankfully, the amount of such areas is diminishing rapidly. To comfort myself during these troubling times (joking, obviously), I purchased a new blouse from Theory to tide me over until spring, along with a dinky little key pouch from Marc by Marc Jacobs, as you can see above.

"Style is primarily a matter of instinct." -Bill Blass

The Longchamp Le Pliage is a great bag with one fault - it's much too popular. I see them all over New York. However, they are really useful. They are extremely durable, they are waterproof, they fit a lot, and they are easy to wash and take care of. I have two now - an Eiffel tower one that I got like three or four years ago, and a new one that I will be showing you now! :)

Currently Coveting: Net-A-Porter, Juicy Couture, Sephora, LV, and other random stuff

Today has been absolutely horrible. I have some sort of stomach virus, so I have been up since 11 pm last night vomiting. I finally feel a little better, albeit very weak and tired, so I'm trying to make myself less bored by blogging things I want, lol.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Currently Coveting: Beauty Products, Prada, Longchamp, VS

I was at Sephora today and saw/tried some things I plan to order online. I prefer ordering online with Sephora because you get samples, and there are more promotions online. Plus, I need to get a new Beauty Insider card and it's just easier to order online lol.

"The trick of wearing mink is to look as though you were wearing a cloth coat. The trick of wearing a cloth coat is to look as though you are wearing mink.” -Pierre Balmain

I have an affinity for vintage bags. Today, I got three vintage bags, one of which I didn't yet photograph. Above are my two vintage Dooney & Bourke All Weather Leather bags and a new Balmain bag I got...

"I wanted this, I wanted to do this, but my work is me, and it has to be right." -Oscar de la Renta

In this post I'm going to show you a couple of items of clothing I've purchased and the things I got my mommy for her birthday. :)
